The next day, spend time exploring the local market in Leh and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

In the morning, after breakfast, head for a guided walking tour of Leh Palace, Victory Peak, the old quarter, and offices. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, drive to Phey, from where the trek starts along the Indus River Gorge, a dramatic entry to the Hemis National Park. On arrival, set up the camp for an overnight stay in the park.

Next morning, after breakfast, trek to view the wildlife with our expert. The Hemis National Park is home to blue sheep, argali, migratory birds, and the Tibetan wolf. In winter, you can see signs of the snow leopard's presence, as this is the time of year that they descend to lower elevations. Overnight stay at camp.

From day 6 to day 11, trek to nearby sites where snow leopards may have been sighted recently. Visit neighboring villages and stay at homestays, which are hosted by members of a community conservation effort to conserve the endangered snow leopard and are also trained in hospitality. At homestays, you will feel the culture of the Ladakhi people.

Next morning, after breakfast, trek to Zingchen and transfer to Leh. Check into a hotel and stay in Leh for the night.
